Our Story — Ban de Osh

Inspired by the sea. Crafted for the journey.

Hi, I'm Rebecca Euceda, founder of Ban de Osh.

Ban de Osh began in 2015 aboard a traditional gulet sailing through the Dodecanese Islands of Greece.

One afternoon, while we were anchored in a quiet bay, a small wooden rowboat pulled alongside our boat. Women aboard were selling beautifully handwoven towels, tossing them up to our deck because we sat higher on the water.

Aboard a traditional gulet in the Dodecanese Islands, Greece, in 2015—the journey that inspired Ban de Osh.

I bought one towel... then another... and before I knew it, I had purchased one in every color. I was completely captivated. There was something about their texture, craftsmanship, and effortless beauty that stayed with me long after the trip ended. For the rest of that journey, I practically lived in those towels—wrapped around my waist after swimming, on the beach, and aboard the boat. Their simplicity, versatility, and timeless appeal sparked something I couldn't ignore.

That moment became the beginning of Ban de Osh.

Over the years, I explored countless fabrics, weaves, and silhouettes, searching for the perfect balance between beauty, comfort, and versatility. Again and again, I found myself returning to cotton terry. Soft, absorbent, timeless, and effortlessly adaptable, it transitions beautifully from the beach to the boat, the resort, and everyday life. It became the foundation for everything I envisioned Ban de Osh could be.

Today, every Ban de Osh piece is woven in limited quantities by a skilled artisan using traditional weaving techniques and then carefully finished by hand. Small variations are not imperfections—they are the signature of authentic craftsmanship and a reminder that every piece has been made by human hands.

Each collection then arrives in Miami, where every garment and accessory is personally inspected before becoming part of the Ban de Osh collection.

Ban de Osh was never created to chase trends or mass production. It was created to celebrate thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship, and the relaxed elegance of coastal living. My greatest joy is transforming beautifully woven cotton into timeless pieces that become part of someone's life—whether accompanying a favorite vacation, becoming part of an everyday ritual, or finding their way to someone truly special.

I especially love knowing that Ban de Osh is often chosen for someone truly special. To me, the most meaningful gifts are the ones you take the time to seek out—pieces that feel personal, tell a story, and are beautifully crafted. They're given with love, received with joy, and, I hope, treasured for years to come.

Because our collections are produced in small batches, each one is naturally limited. Some pieces may return in a new colorway, while others are never woven again. That is part of their story—and part of what makes every Ban de Osh piece so special.

What Does Ban de Osh Mean?

People often ask, "What does Ban de Osh mean?"

Ban de Osh is a name I created, inspired by a feeling rather than a literal translation.

Ban draws inspiration from the French word bain, meaning bath.

De is a Romance-language connector meaning of.

Osh was inspired by the sound and spirit of the ocean itself—the rhythm of the waves, the sea breeze, and the feeling of being immersed in coastal life.

Together, Ban de Osh is my interpretation of "bathing in the ocean."

It represents more than a destination. It embodies a way of life—sun on your skin, salt in the air, effortless travel, meaningful craftsmanship, and the simple luxury of slowing down by the water.

That feeling inspires every collection we create.

With gratitude,
Rebecca Euceda
